Hello everyone, I am Mark and I´m working as the English Language Assistant at Centre López Vicuña and have been doing so since October 2018.
I moved to Barcelona a year ago to start following my ambition of becoming an English teacher and this school kindly gave me the opportunity to start doing this. It has been nice being in a school environment and getting to know the English department team and the students.
I help with lessons for a range of subjects such as Batx where I have mainly assisted students in their projects, which they´ve been undertaking in English. With the Marketing and International Trade groups, the focus of my work has been doing conversation classes with smaller numbers of students and talking about lots of different topics. The emphasis being on improving speaking skills.
I am also helping with Listening exercises for exam preparation and feeding back to whole classes about tasks that they´ve been completing, such as grammar exercises. The range of the work and helping across multiple subjects and levels has been an amazing experience.
One of my favourite tasks has been helping the Erasmus students prepare for their one or two-month time away (internships). They had to do an interview in English which I gave them some pointers and guidance on.
I´ve really enjoyed getting to know what life is like in a school setting and want to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome.
If ever you just want a chat in English or help with anything, please let me know. Will be happy to help in any way I can.
